My Story…

I set out on an art career, completing a foundation art course gaining exposure to a world of inspirational people, artwork, and media.

I developed a love of colour and pattern, particularly of the stylised fabric prints from the 1950’s - 70’s; the vibrant narrative woven into turkish rugs, and the heddy nostalgia induced by the glorious technicolour classics such as Calamity Jane. Bold and joyous, these influences feed into my work combining quirky, modern shapes with retro inspired designs.

After completing my studies with a design for print & production course, life and a need to provide for it meant I had to leave these dreams behind to take better paid work. 3 children later, whilst working as an art technician in a secondary school that I met my now friend and mentor who introduced me to the joy of potting and to porcelain -whilst we worked together at school I dreamt of setting up my own studio.

I spent 10 happy years apprenticing in her little studio, in which time I bought my own wheel and kiln and began potting from home.

Since 2019 I have been working entirely in my own miniature studio (previously known as the larder) producing small batches of handmade porcelain pieces.

Luckily, I don’t work alone! Studio helper Rufus (Ru) the Dachshund is on hand to provide daily entertainment and company, ably assisted by Bonnie -the cocker spaniel and Gus, my trusty rodent control officer & resident moggie-in-chief.

Below is a hall of fame for my previous studio assistants. Harvey and Lola, my very special Cocker Spaniels, and Dotty the Maran chicken (Queen of the pet pecking order). I miss you all x
